He hadn\u2019t eaten since Tuesday, couldn\u2019t stand up, had very low blood pressure and just wasn\u2019t with us any more. He was in kidney failure.<\/p>\n<div class=\"l7ghb35v kjdc1dyq kmwttqpk gh25dzvf jikcssrz n3t5jt4f\">\n<div dir=\"auto\">I love each of these guys fiercely and it\u2019s so hard to hold them that final time and then lay them on the table and leave.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"l7ghb35v kjdc1dyq kmwttqpk gh25dzvf jikcssrz n3t5jt4f\">\n<div dir=\"auto\">Soots was a golden oldie when he came to us and it didn\u2019t seem right to put him through another change at his age after he\u2019d settled with us &#8211; so he stayed and retired here. His very mild superpower was sleeping. He slept in our bed between us so that he didn\u2019t get pushed out. He was usually the last one up in the morning and often I\u2019d wait to make the bed until he was ready to get up.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"l7ghb35v kjdc1dyq kmwttqpk gh25dzvf jikcssrz n3t5jt4f\">\n<div dir=\"auto\">He loved his food and would literally take cheese <span class=\"fxk3tzhb b2rh1bv3 gh55jysx m8h3af8h ewco64xe kjdc1dyq ms56khn7 bq6c9xl4 eohcrkr5 akh3l2rg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/static.xx.fbcdn.net\/images\/emoji.php\/v9\/t7c\/3\/16\/1f9c0.png\" alt=\"&#x1f9c0;\" width=\"16\" height=\"16\" \/><\/span> and biscuits out of my hand if I wasn\u2019t careful. He insisted on having a bowl of warm milk each evening (and when I made it for him &#8211; I\u2019d sprinkle a little drinking chocolate on top).<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"l7ghb35v kjdc1dyq kmwttqpk gh25dzvf jikcssrz n3t5jt4f\">\n<div dir=\"auto\">He was very often my little shadow. His eyesight wasn\u2019t fabulous so he\u2019d find my legs and follow close. He enjoyed a little potter down the back especially when the sun was shining and sometimes would take his sleeping out to the back deck on a nice day.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"l7ghb35v kjdc1dyq kmwttqpk gh25dzvf jikcssrz n3t5jt4f\">\n<div dir=\"auto\">He could be a fiesty little fluffer especially when it came to touching his face which he hated. He\u2019s the only dog we\u2019ve had that has got the better of Deb, our groomer.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"l7ghb35v kjdc1dyq kmwttqpk gh25dzvf jikcssrz n3t5jt4f\">\n<div dir=\"auto\">He was a wonderful, quirky little guy and I\u2019m just heartbroken. Again, even knowing it was coming &#8211; made it no easier when it happened. Rest easy now Soots &#8211; I\u2019ll miss you snuggling up to me in bed and resting your little head on me.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><a class=\"qi72231t nu7423ey n3hqoq4p
